The Arctic Oven Ursa brings rugged cold-weather performance of our flagship hot tents into a more accessible form. Built to deliver warmth, comfort, and simplicity in winter camping scenarios, it’s ideal for those stepping into hot-tenting while still preserving essential technical features.
Stove-Compatible Design: The Ursa includes a factory-installed 4.5″ oval stove jack and fire-shielded floor, making it ready to host medium sized wood or propane stoves (for example, our Standard Ti ~18″×14″×14″). Alaska Gear Company
Proprietary Vapex Crown: At the tent’s highest point, we use our exclusive Vapex material to wick moisture upward, mitigating condensation in this single-wall design and helping keep the interior drier under use.
Single-Wall, Lightweight Construction: Unlike heavier dual-wall or fly-style tents, the Ursa omits a separate fly to reduce overall weight, lower production cost, and simplify entry into hot-tent camping.
The Ursa is designed for shorter-term winter or cold-weather outings—not as a long-term basecamp tent in extreme conditions. It shines on weekend trips, snowshoe missions, hunting excursions, or overnighters where portability, comfort, and stove compatibility matter most.
While the Ursa will function as a standalone single-wall tent, it performs best when paired with a stove. The gentle heat helps reduce interior condensation during inclement weather, and the Vapex crown assists by wicking moisture away from the fabric. In practice, stove usage significantly improves comfort and dryness inside the tent, especially during cold nights or damp rain and snow events.
The Ursa is not intended for the harshest environments. We do not recommend use above the Arctic Circle, in high alpine zones, on Kodiak-style maritime exposures, or in wind-prone terrain. It is not rated for sustained use below –10 °F, nor for prolonged stays in extreme wind or weather. If your mission demands durability in brutal environments, consider one of our heavier-duty models like the Arctic Oven Igloo or Arctic Oven 10.
